Peer Review Process
The Journal of Law, Technology, and Human Rights (JLTR) employs a double-blind peer review process to maintain the integrity and quality of its publications. In this process, the identities of both reviewers and authors remain anonymous to ensure impartiality and objectivity. Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two experts with relevant expertise in the manuscript's subject area.
The peer review process evaluates two primary aspects: the relevance of the article to the fields of law, technology, and human rights, and its contribution to theoretical and practical advancements in these areas. Editors and reviewers provide constructive feedback to help authors improve their manuscripts.
The review process typically takes 4 to 12 weeks, depending on the availability and promptness of the editors and reviewers. Authors who do not receive confirmation within a reasonable timeframe are encouraged to contact the journal via email at journal.jltr@gmail.com.
The stages of the peer review process at JLTR are as follows:
- Online Submission:
Manuscripts must be submitted through the JLTR's Online Journal System (OJS). Authors can access the submission portal at JLTR Submission Portal.
- Initial Screening:
The Managing Editor conducts an initial check to ensure that the manuscript complies with the JLTR's submission guidelines and template. Additionally, the manuscript is assessed for alignment with the journal's focus and scope. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria will be returned to the authors for revision or rejected.
- Plagiarism Check:
Manuscripts are checked for similarity using Turnitin. If the similarity index exceeds 20%, the manuscript will be returned to the authors for correction or may be rejected. This decision is final and at the discretion of the JLTR editor. For more details, refer to our Plagiarism Policy.
- Peer Review:
Manuscripts that pass the initial checks are sent to at least two anonymous reviewers. In some cases, a third reviewer may be consulted for additional input.
- Reviewer Feedback:
Reviewers provide detailed feedback and recommendations, which are forwarded to the authors by the editor. This feedback is intended to help authors improve their manuscripts.
- Revisions:
Manuscripts requiring revisions (minor or major) will be returned to the authors with comments from the reviewers. Authors are expected to revise their manuscripts and resubmit them within one month. If additional time is needed, authors should request an extension via email (journal.jltr@gmail.com). Failure to resubmit within the specified period will be interpreted as a withdrawal from the process.
- Final Decision:
The final decision on the manuscript's acceptance is made by the editor and editor-in-chief, based on reviewers' recommendations. Possible decisions include:
- Accepted as is: The manuscript is accepted without any changes.
- Accepted with Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires minor changes that can be quickly addressed by the authors.
- Accepted with Major Revisions: The manuscript needs significant revisions and will be reconsidered after the authors have made the necessary changes.
- Rejected: The manuscript is not suitable for publication in JLTR, generally due to issues with scope, technical content, or clarity.
- Publication:
Manuscripts that have undergone final revisions and have been accepted by the editor will be scheduled for publication in the next available issue of JLTR, as determined by the editor-in-chief.
